Help us celebrate 10 years of building community and bringing light to the darkness of perinatal mental health disorders.

The Climb Out of the Darkness is the world's largest event raising funds and awareness for the mental health of new families operated by Postpartum Support International. The Climb is a community walk and international fundraiser for survivors, providers, and members of the community to come together.

Raising awareness for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, The Climb brings our community together to shine a light on a darkness we often don't speak about. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are the most common complication of pregnancy and childbirth.

We share stories of hope and celebrate recovery as we gather together to raise money, raise awareness and give a voice to those who no longer have one and walk together to symbolize our 'Climb' Out of the Darkness.

Buffalo has been hosting this event for several years.  We are grateful to our City of Good Neighbors for supporting this cause and bringing hope to so many postpartum families.  Past Climbs have benefitted local causes such as the Postpartum Resource Center of NY, Jericho Road's Priscilla Project, Buffalo Prenatal Perinatal Network, and the Perinatal Mental Health Alliance for People of color.

This year, 75% of funds raised by Team Buffalo will benefit  WNY Postpartum Connection, Inc. WNY Postpartum Connection, Inc. is a volunteer run nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving access to care for families in WNY who face perinatal mental health concerns.  The WNYPPC, Inc. website is a free directory of local mental health and support services for women who are pregnant or postpartum, or facing issues such as loss and fertility challenges, and their partners.  WNYPPC is also a place for providers and community businesses to connect with one another.  The WNYPPC provider community includes over 125 independent practitioners, agencies, local support groups, supportive programs, and service providers in the community. WNYPPC provider network membership is free.   WNYPPC organizes and leads the annual Climb out of the Darkness Walk WNYPPC provides education to groups in our community and promote access to care.  They collaborate with providers and community agencies as partners in the goal to improve access to perinatal mental health care for all families in our community.

Everyone is welcome at the Climb!  The Climb is free to attend.  Fundraising is encouraged, but it's ok if you aren't interested in fundraising.  We just want to continue to spread the word that help is available and that postpartum mental health conditions are treatable and temporary.  Please contact us with any questions! cotdbuffalo@gmail.com

This year's Climb will be IN PERSON again!  Registration starts at 9:30 at the beautiful Buffalo Outer Harbor State Park, 1111 Fuhrmann Blvd.
