"Women (parents)need to feel safe to explore their feelings, their options for support, whatever their choices, whatever works best for them, whatever their story."  --V.M.  Mother with lived experience

Help us celebrate 10 years of building community and bringing light to the darkness of perinatal mental health disorders.

The Climb Out of the Darkness is the world's largest event raising funds and awareness for the mental health of new families operated by Postpartum Support International. The Climb is a community walk and international fundraiser for survivors, providers, and members of the community to come together.

Inspired by parents with lived experience in our area, in Rutland County, Vermont, we raise funds to support local families. Our innovative ways of helping and supporting new families represent a collaborative effort between many nonprofits, people and peer supports to make sure that no one feels ALONE.  Your contribution keeps in motion: New baby playgroup at the Wonderfeet Kids' Museum "It Takes a Village"; Mothers and Babies/Parents and Babies course groups and home visits through Community Care Network, Rutland County Head Start, and VNAHSR; Mom's Therapy Group at RMHS;  Trained support at Rutland Regional Medical Center and Women's Health of RRMC; "Holding Hope" Peer Support network; Circle of Security groups and home visits, and other things in the works! Please support our local work to support new families!!

Raising awareness for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, The Climb brings our community together to shine a light on a darkness we often don't speak about. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are the most common complication of pregnancy and childbirth.

We share stories of hope and celebrate recovery as we gather together to raise money, raise awareness and give a voice to those who no longer have one and walk together to symbolize our 'Climb' Out of the Darkness.

We provide direct peer support to families, train professionals, and provide a bridge to connect them.

Many thanks to our sponsors: Carris Reels, Visiting Nurse and Hospice of the Southwest Region, Rutland Regional Medical Center, Killington Pico, Naylor and Breen Builders, and VELCO
